Independent Homeschool Math Curriculum
We love it Teaching Textbooks homeschool math curriculum! I have had two families sit down with our Teaching Textbooks Geometry to try it and both families bought the product.
What I like about the course is the independence of my high-school boys (now 10th and 12th). You can read the lesson or listen to the lesson with the CD-Rom on computer, or do both. Mr. Sabouri has a pleasant voice. You do five practice problems on that day's lesson to see if you understood the lesson, followed by a problem set of 22 - 25 problems. Correct the answers with the solution manuel. If the student has any problem understanding the reason for an error, there is a set of solutions CD-Roms with each and every problem verbally explained. Amazing!
The Algebra I and II were my boys' favorites. Lessons usually took one day and ran on schedule. They both found Geometry harder. The statement and reason problems made the lessons longer. Even though there were only 110 lessons in Geometry for the year we needed to makes some lessons run two days.
The whole program cost more than other courses, but they are popular right now and I have been able to sell them and get most of my money back.
Martha, thanks so much for sharing about Teaching Textbooks, and what is working with your high school boys. Your honest comment about the cost of the curriculum is especially helpful - thanks for including it. Blessings to you as you homeschool high school!
