I really like Teaching Textbooks algebra homeschool math curriculum and used it for my daughter in the 7th and 8th grade.

The course comes with the workbook and CD's that have an instructor explaining the lesson and giving examples. There are actual tests and a solution CD. This is of great help to the student to make sure that there is no question of how to work the problem.

The only drawback to the Algebra I & II courses that I found is that I wish they also included some basic geometry and geometric figures work like the Saxon course. I ended up supplementing what I thought was missing.

All in all, it is an excellent course and does not need a parent that is great at math to explain lessons. It is sort of expensive, but is very comprehensive. You can also find it used, which would help with the cost.

After struggling through Algebra with my oldest child, I knew I had to make a change. I came across Teaching Textbooks homeschool math curriculum, through a homeschooling email and started to research this product.

It was relatively new so I wasn't able to find it used, but it was worth every penny. The curriculum comes with a computer disk that goes over every single math problem. My daughter had a successful year and got an A in Algebra 1.

I will gladly hold on to this math curriculum to use again for my 3rd child and I know this curriculum will become a popular choice among homeschoolers because:

1.) it is so easy to use,

2.) the joy it brings to parents to see their child succeed in Algebra and,

3.) the relief it brings to children to find they can actually do Algebra.

The nightmare is finally over; I will be purchasing Teaching Textbooks Algebra 2!!*Hmmm... maybe that's why you can't find it used – parents like it too much to sell it! :) Thanks for sharing! Blessings, Heather*

*Overcome homeschooling Algebra struggles with Teaching Textbooks Algebra curriculum. Read this happy mom's review...*

My teenage son has used Teaching Textbooks Algebra curriculum for the past two years and we plan to use this same curriculum next year for Geometry.

Usually Geometry is taken between the Algebra courses, however the creators of Teaching Textbooks suggested to complete the Algebra courses first and then go on to Geometry. You do not need Geometry for Algebra 2 so we decided to take this path and have been very pleased.

We weren't as thrilled as so many homeschoolers with the ever favorite, Saxon. So if you find you need a different route than Saxon, try it! At least check out the website or its also available through other curriculum companies now.

Hopefully you will be able to find it used. I thought it was a bit pricey new, but since it worked so well for us...sometimes you just have to buy it if you can't find it used.

My son likes the way it is presented: book & CD set-both, with lessons, examples, problem sets & tests (both also with completely explained answers in book & CD). There is also no need for a teacher text or separate answer book which drives up the price of other curriculums. Sure hope this helps!!! It works for us. Happy Homeschooling!*Great review of Teaching Textbooks Algebra curriculum, Melanie! Thanks for taking the time to share with others how this math program is working for you and your son. Blessings, Heather*

Teaching Textbooks Algebra 1 curriculum is fantastic. My son has always hated math, and was really not understanding the concepts for Algebra.

Once he started on Teaching Textbooks, he quickly learned the concepts and has Algebra down pat! They make math fun to learn!

It is kind of expensive. I believe new, it is around $180.00, but well worth it and you can always try to find it used for a much better price!*Thanks for the Teaching Textbooks Algebra 1 review and sharing how this homeschooling math curriculum has turned your math-hating son into a math-lover! Blessings, Heather :)*

For a student who may have difficulty with reading comprehension, Teaching Textbooks Algebra 1 homeschooling math course might be the perfect solution.

Each lesson is presented via a computer cd. A whiteboard is used to show the problems. The teacher is not actually seen - you hear his voice and see his notes on the board. After watching the lesson, the student can try five practice problems. Full solutions are given for these problems. Now the student is ready to do the 25 lesson exercises. These are not done on the computer but in a notebook.

Teaching Textbooks is expensive but may be worth for students who have difficulty learning from reading a textbook.*Sometimes the extra money is well-worth the investment - thanks for the Teaching Textbooks homeschooling math review, Michele! Blessings, Heather :)*
