Switched-On Schoolhouse & Why We Use It

I ran a daycare for years and homeschooled at the same time. I did Unit Studies of my own but fell into a problem of not assigning things for my children to do. They got into a habit of watching too much TV.
My husband did a web search and found Switched-On Schoolhouse. It worked perfectly for us. The children would work on the computer and I'd do daycare. I was able to help them hit and miss.
The grading was all done for you with exception to missed items. The computer went straight to the mistakes and I would discuss the issues with the children.
I liked SOS because it was so quick to grade and re-assign. Switched on Schoolhouse allowed me a LOT of personalizing; I could decide if I wanted quizzes, tests, essays or not.
It did take me a lot of setting up because I kept learning about how things worked. The set-up efforts though were well worth my time. As I said before, the system kept grades and such.
I had never wanted to do "text book" learning but SOS is a great way to do text book-style learning though, because it's simple for the adults.
