Switched on Schoolhouse: 7th Grade
Switched on Schoolhouse Pros and Cons
Homeschooling mom shares some pros and cons of Switched on Schoolhouse homeschool curriculum...
What I liked about Switched on Schoolhouse was teacher prep time was virtually cut to a minimum. The curriculum was excellent because of that reason.
What I didn't like about Switched on Schoolhouse was the price. It was expensive! It cost about $350 for just the basic 5 subjects (Science, Language Arts, Math, Social Studies, and Bible) and electives cost an additional $80+ each.
SOS is also next to impossible to resell it to get some money back. Legally it can only be copied once, so if you bought it used, you are out of luck. If you bought it new, you could get some money out of it. So ... if you have money to burn, go for it. If not, think hard before taking the plunge and buying it.
Your thoughts are helpful, Teresa, thanks for helping others learn more about Switched on Schoolhouse! It would be disappointing to not be able to recoup some of your investment, like you can with other non-computer based curriculum. However, the benefit of minimal teacher-prep time is probably well worth the cost for many parents, I'm sure! Blessings, Heather :)
