Homeschool Question About Starting Mid-Year

Unsure mom wants to know if its possible to withdraw a student from regular school and start homeschooling mid-school year?

We just relocated to the midwest from the south. My child is having a really difficult time adjusting to the school. I wanted to know if it's possible to withdraw her out of regular school and home school her in the middle of the school year. We plan to move again in the summer and I plan to continue to homeschool her in the summer. please help.

I pulled all of my kids out of school mid year. As long as you file the proper paperwork with your state you can do whatever you want! When you move, just file the proper paperwork for that state. HSLDA has the best list of state laws for all of that!

Not sure how old the post is, but just wanted to let you know I am also in the Midwest and pulled my child out mid-year due to peer issues (mainly). It was a great move and we didn't need to spend even one more stressful day in that environment! I don't regret it at all. You can even talk to the teachers and find out what he is working on currently and you can continue where they left off if you like...or take charge and change it all up according to your child's learning style and your personal convictions, etc.! I found the teachers at the public school to be extremely cooperative, some even lent me books. The next year, I purchased entirely different curriculum (we chose Christian-based) and we charged off down our very own home school path. It's the best decision I've made as a parent. Thanks for sharing! Your comments are so helpful. When we took our daughter out of school, her teacher was very understanding and helpful too!
