We love AOP's SOS curriculum!

Easy-to-use and customizable, Alpha Omega's SOS curriculum provides wonderful benefits for both homeschooling students and parents...

My daughter and I have totally enjoyed using Alpha Omega's SOS curriculum for the last three years. It is very easy to use, and my daughter can customize it to fit her personality.

This curriculum is entirely on cd rom and can have multiple students added on. It is really great too because she can choose to either read it herself or have it read to her.

I am sure we will continue to use and enjoy this curriculum on through her highschool years.

Thanks for sharing why you and your daughter like SOS curriculum! Finding curriculum that fits perfectly with your family makes homeschooling easier!

SOS 7th Grade Homeschool Success

by Wendy
(Moberly, Missouri, USA)

Grab a tissue and read this heart-warming SOS 7th grade homeschool success story for some homeschooling encouragement...

I recently have chosen the Alpha Omega Switched-On-Schoolhouse Curriculum software. I am new to home schooling and at first was hesitant about home schooling by either paper or software teaching, although I have been a substitute a bit before and do have a Bachelors Degree.

Although my son has A.D.H.D, he is a respectful young man who definitely was deserving a "break in life". The school system had transferred him to an alternative school for tapping and for his not being patient in class and thus becoming a "disruption". They said they didn't have to "deal" with him. Wherein, the principle then transferred him to an alternative school, he was treated like a criminal every morning and afternoon he came and went from that place. He had to turn his pockets inside out. He had to give them his coat and raise his hand for a piece of paper. He could have absolutely nothing personal to comfort him or make him feel welcomed there. He had to sit in a room for 2-3 hours without moving, not only HE, but I saw many others there that I feel had to have I.E.P.'s also. They were being run through the alternative school and into the juvenile system like a worn down trail.

My son is not violent, doesn't steal, doesn't cuss, doesn't lie, has manners, and was being treated unfairly I felt and I knew I had to stop them from sending him down the sinkhole. He was pushed, shoved, and tripped in the hall in the bathroom line. He'd tell the teacher but the teacher seemed to NEVER see it. My son never got to complete lessons, or LEARN anything much because that's not what occurred. I'd go in to pick him up each day and the teacher would show me huge amounts of pages where my son had written "I will not tap my fingers/feet again"; this set off an alarm within me. My son needed "Core Curriculum", not "i owe u notes".

The students did on-line classes and when they needed help with a question, he was hardly noticed and so just sat there. After a quick peek at the teachers desk, I SAW he was ONLY drawing pictures... doodling!! So, I then removed my son, who was starting to seem like a stranger to me, and placed him in a Christian school wherein a complete semester passed, and all I saw was my son getting further behind, doing electives instead of core curriculum. I became nervous and anxious, my son truly, I KNEW, needed to be learning 7th grade Core Curriculum. So I made a choice to bring my son home and to educate him with software for his age and grade level.

We downloaded the SOS software and we absolutely so far..(lol).. love it. My son is doing excellent work!! A's and B's and seems very eager to learn as I thought he would, if given the chance. He is learning about the body and history and geography, next is science - he loves all of these. He never wanted to go to school before because it was boring. Of course it was! We are truly doing great and we are thankful God has given us an avenue for learning!! WE know we have made the right choice to home-school and as I stated before SOS is helping us immensely in getting back on the right track for the betterment of his education. I now have a hand in his life lessons too, and I see the light back in my sons eyes - I am simply ecstatic!! I now feel he will keep progressing and will become who he is, "youth comes but once in a lifetime" written by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow... an ASSET to society!! I actually think he will be a teacher one day. He loves to teach others. : ) We HAVE to stay on top of our children's education!! (The above is all written as an opinion, my opinion, strictly opinion.)

What a heart-warming testimony of a mother's heart for her son! Wendy, thank you so much for sharing your encouraging story - your post is more than a SOS 7th grade homeschool review. I know it will be very helpful to other parents who are struggling with similar situations. I appreciate your thoughts - I have a lump in my throat! Wishing you and your son many blessings as you learn together and many years of homeschooling success! Blessings, Heather

SOS Spanish Woes

SOS Spanish Woes

SOS Spanish Woes

My daughter found didn't really like the SOS Spanish curriculum. She found the pronunciations hard to understand and their grading is very strict. If you misspelled a word or missed punctuation you would miss the entire problem. We found that some of their answers to their problems didn't correspond with what they were teaching in the lesson.

Rachel, thanks for honestly sharing what you didn't like about SOS homeschool Spanish curriculum. Your comments will help parents know what to expect with SOS. Blessings, Heather

SOS Curriculum Makes Homeschooling Easy

by Connie M.
(Houston, TX)

Texas home educator of four shares how SOS curriculum makes homeschooling easy...

I have 4 homeschoolers, each in a different grade. Using the Switched-On-Schoolhouse curriculum has made it extremely easy for keeping up with all of them. It can be a bit pricey in the beginning, but well worth the investment. Their tech support, if needed, is always cheerful and seemed glad to help with any problem.

Thanks, Connie, for sharing how SOS curriculum makes homeschooling easy - especially when homeschooling four children at one time! Blessings, Heather :)

SOS Computer-based Homeschooling

Hassle-free SOS Computer-based Homeschooling

Hassle-free SOS Computer-based Homeschooling

No lesson planning and no record keeping are two reasons why this mom loves SOS computer-based homeschooling curriculum. Read her homeschool review...

SOS computer-based homeschool curriculum worked for us because we only have one child in 5th grade and she could do the work anywhere.

SOS took care of the grading and you do not have to keep up with the scores of the tests. At the end of the year all you have to do is print out the report card. SO if you are looking for a time saver and no lesson planning I think that SOS homeschool curriculum would be right for you.

One draw back for me was that my daughter did not want to do any writing because she was just typing all the time. Her typing skills improved though!

Thanks for sharing your SOS computer-based homeschooling experience. Your comments will be especially helpful to other parents who are looking for computer-based homeschool curriculum, or a more-hands-free solution. Blessings, Heather :)
