Solid Abeka Language Arts Curriculum

Abeka Gives Above Grade Level Results!
When transitioning from private Christian school to homeschooling, ABeka Language Arts curriculum was the clear winner for this homeschooling mom.
Both of our children have mastered Language skills, including grammar, spelling, vocabulary and writing using Abeka in a private school since kindergarten.
When I began homeschooling my daughter in 5th grade, all other curriculums were too easy, and bored her. Now, my 6th grade son is at home. I have stuck with Abeka for him, as it is so solid in the grammar area.
He doesn't care for the diagramming of sentences, but that is a small part. Every grammar and/or vocabulary book I look at is weak in one area or another, but this is complete. You don't have to do every assignment; we skip the crosswords and other puzzles, because he doesn't like them.
Some kids may have trouble if they did not start Abeka in the younger grades. You may have to start a level below. Abeka is challenging and produces kids at least a grade higher than average in Spelling/Vocabulary. I recommend starting when your children are young and they will have amazing progress.
As high school approaches, much of the language/grammar is review. My 6th grader can do the high school grammar (but his own grade level in spelling/vocabulary). The writing assignments continue to get more difficult and varied.
Some of our friends say Abeka is too hard and have switched from it, but I'm sure Abeka is what has makes my job teaching Language so easy as they approach middle/high school. If you start young as mine did, by 5th or 6th grade the hard skills can be over and you can focus on writing.
