Saxon Math Home School Curriculum Review

Saxon Math Home School Success!

Saxon Math Home School Success!

I have a daughter (8) who we have been home schooling for three years. We started her on Saxon Math home school curriculum from the beginning, and could not be more pleased!!

She is gifted in math, so we accelerated her two years (we started her on 3/2 when she was in kindergarten), and she has done quite well, even with the more difficult material.

I think Saxon Math has been such a great match for our daughter because of its format. Our daughter gets bored doing the same type of problem over and over again, but that is not a concern with Saxon, as new topics are discussed, and then the child is given only a handful of the new type of math problems. The rest of the lesson will be made of review problems that are mixed together, so she must continually think about how to solve this mixture of problems.

Saxon's format also makes it easy to further accelerate your child, or make up for missed days. Because your child is tested approximately once every week (depending on level), it is easy to track what concepts they are getting, and what they are not. IF your child seems to fully comprehend a concept, you can just choose to skip those questions. In the Saxon format, particular concept questions are easy for the parent to find, as they seem to be placed in a similar location of each lesson.

I love that we can adapt the Saxon lessons easily from day to day. We can make the lesson long or short, depending on the schedule of the day. If we are pressed for time, we simply do the new material, and when we have more time, we do the whole lesson. We can verify that she is right on track by evaluating her weekly tests.

I think Saxon Math home school curriculum is a great, very versatile program!

Great Saxon Math home school curriculum review, Rebeca; appreciate the time you took to help other parents learn more about Saxon. Blessings, Heather:)
