RightStart Homeschool Math Curriculum
Learn more about RightStart homeschool math curriculum and how this family went from worksheet failure to homeschooling math success!Rightstart Math is our favorite homeschool math curriculum. As a math major in college, I was very particular about our math program. Rightstart Math is tactile with lots of manipulatives to help children "see" how the math works. The curriculum also teaches using 10s. Example 7+5=? We know 7+3=10, so then we know 3+2=5 so 7+5 = 7+3 (10) + 2 = 12. Students can easily start adding numbers in their head with this concept.
There are also LOTS of math games that help reinforce math concepts and logic without the pain of worksheets or reviewing flashcards. Example: Fraction war, which is larger 1/4 or 1/3. You can take it a step further and do two card fraction war, which is larger 1/4 + 1/4 or 1/8 + 3/4? Note: there are manipulatives that show the amounts of 1/4 and 1/8, so children can visually see the amounts and decide which is greater and learn how to add the amounts together.
Rightstart also teaches geometry concepts right away getting children acclimated to learning shapes and spatial concepts.
Before Rightstart Math we used a worsheet based homeschool math curriculum and were disappointed in the results. We found Rightstart Math to be engaging, interesting, and even fun.
