R.E.A.L. Science Odyssey Homeschool Review
I chose R.E.A.L. Science Odyssey homeschool curriculum because it presented each subject (Life science, Earth & Space, Chemistry) in a manner friendly to kids without dumbing down the vocabulary or the over-all expectations and because it is a hands-on lab oriented learning experience. And while I am a Christian, I wanted the science curriculum that we chose not to focus on our religious beliefs but to focus on the science. That being said, for anyone that is concerned about it, there is no mention of evolution or creationism or anything in between. I also chose this because each science subject covers multiple grade levels. Level one Life science and Earth & Space cover grades 1-4, while level one Chemistry covers grades 2-5. I really enjoy this curriculum because it is extremely hands-on. Every week/unit there are multiple labs and experiments. We have all learned so much and have enjoyed every minute of it. I believe that this curriculum is very affordable because it covers multiple grades, you could teach different aged children at the same time quite easily, and you can bargain hunt for lab supplies. Each subject is about $50. A cost cutting tip would be to forgo the students lab sheet pack, which is sold separately as a time-saving gimmick, and just copy the lab pages straight from the book.
