Homeschooling in Missouri Questions

Homeschooling in Missouri Questions

Hi! I have some questions about homeschooling in Missouri. I have just taken on, and moved my sister to Missouri from Tennessee. Missouri has very lax homeschooling laws, while Tennessee homeschool laws are very strict. She doesn't do well in social situations, and I would like to homeschool her, to give her the best chance for success.

Is it legal to remove a 10th grader from a Tennessee public school in the middle of the school year? What about for psychological reasons- such as a social anxiety?

Thanks so much for this amazing website! Looking forward to any input possible. I am new to this and I am even considering my other three kids.
Cassandra

As her parent you have the right to remove her from a public school (or put her in) any time you wish.

In this case, you need to contact the HomeSchool Legal Defense Association www.hslda.org.

Their membership dues are as low as $10 a month. They are lawyers and can give you all the legal info & forms & adivce you will need plus if something happens they will represent you. They have always been a source of encouragement and help to me in the past.

You can also look up th laws for your state on their website. Contact them today. They can help you.
