"Phonics Pathways", by Dolores G. Hiskes

I have been using "Phonics Pathways", by Dolores G. Hiskes for approximately eight months now, with our five year old son. I started working with him when he was 4½ (preschool age) and am continuing to work with him now with this book.
He went from being frustrated and having low self-confidence in whether or not he would be able to read, to now reading on a first grade level--really.
The book eases into reading. It starts off with long and short vowel sounds, and then progresses to pairing the vowel with a consonant, and builds from there. The book is arranged into groups of study (different suffixes, two consonant beginnings, etc.), so that the educator can focus on one unit of study at a time.
The book is economical (approximately $9 new on Amazon.com or about $5 used), and I can see that we will get more use out of it when our we start homeschool Kindergarten in the Fall.
Thanks for taking the time to help other parents learn about this homeschool reading resource. Your thoughts are greatly appreciated, Natalie! Blessings, Heather :)Find
