Needy Homeschool Family Needs Help

Needy Homeschool Family Needs Help

Needy homeschooling family in Guatemala needs homeschool curriculum and material for her children. Can you help?

Shalom and many blessings. Shalom and many blessings.

I used to live in San Diego California, our life change radically due to a change in our immigration status so we were force to return back to Guatemala.

We have two boys and one daughter, our oldest son is current living in San Diego, but our other two kids still in Guatemala. Right now after three years I am jobless with no income and our kids have spent already three years with no school. We have received some school material for my youngest son he is now thirteen years old.

We are not able to print materials due to lack of money and the school system over here, due to the area we live in, is way to dangerous for them since they speak with an accent. People get kidnaped or get confused thinking they have money. This is a radical country and is very dangerous where we live.

If you have anything at all that can be used at home we will appreciated very much. It is my prayer that we can return soon to the States. We haved lived over there for almost 20 years and our kids are US citizen. They do not know other system but the American, they lives change radically due to our pursue of a better life for us and for them.

Over there we used Abeka when they homeschool, unfortunately they do not have a program that could be used as a donation they just don't do that. Ill appreciate your assistance and information, sincerely Edik Godinez.

Hi Edik,
Thanks for posting your story and request to my website. If you could let me know what grade and subject material you are looking for, other home educators may be able to help you. You can post the information below this post, or contact me via the form on my website and I will update this page.

You may want to contact the Book Samaritan.
The Book Samaritan is a non-profit organization that helps needy homeschooling families. I am not sure if they ship out of country though.

To request materials, you need to HAND write a letter and mail it to:
Book Samaritan
1715 Gandview Ave
Pawhuska,OK 74056.
Again, include the grades/subjects you need. If you need materials for the next school year, submit your request by May or June.

You can also contact the Home School Foundation. (I have written about this organization in my "Home School Financial Aid" article.)

Until you find/receive some resources, you may want to check out oldfashionededucation.com. I don't know if you have access to the internet on a regular basis, but this website has organized many of the free resources that are available online.

I hope this helps!
Blessings,
Heather
