Sonlight Homeschool Curriculum Review
Homeschooling mom shares why she uses Sonlight homeschool curriculum and some great money-saving tips. Check out her only regret so you don't make the same mistake! This is only our family's second year with Sonlight homeschool curriculum, but I wish we had started with this curriculum so much sooner! Since I've never taught Sonlight in the past, I began with Core 1/2 to absorb a rounded year of world history study, even though we were in our seventh year of homeschooling.
We borrowed the books from another family, not knowing if Sonlight would be a good fit or not. Needless to say, I had difficulty returning the box at the end of the year! There were so many books to enjoy! The kids remember much more from reading historical fiction, than memorizing stuffy names and dates. Anyone can easily stretch one year into two, with as many readers as Sonlight provides.
This year, we've begun Core 3/4, American History. The readers are once again, superb. This year, a friend has graciously let us borrow Core 3/4, which is an added bonus for our family, but the curriculum does seem to be reasonable for the amount of books included in each core.
I know that Sonlight has various methods of payment, including an option to pay for the curriculum over time, if needed. I have had friends buy part of their Core with Sonlight, and check the readers out from the library, or find readers in the used section of Amazon. This can be another economical way to get started. In the end, I know that our family will certainly continue with Sonlight homeschool curriculum!
Kathy, thanks for sharing why you chose and will continue to use Sonlight with your family. Thanks also for including some money-saving tips to help others stretch their homeschool dollars further. Blessings, Heather :)Not sure if Sonlight homeschool curriculum is for you? Check out
