Mississippi Homeschool Help Needed
My child has depression and after moving to gautier ms. public schools she hated it. I'm wanting to homeschool her and am being threatened to be turned in from this school. What can i do to protect us and keep the state out of our lives?
Homeschooling is legal in every state; if you follow the Mississippi homeschool requirements, you shouldn't have any problems with removing your daughter from school to homeschool her. HOWEVER, since your daughter was enrolled in a public school AND school authorities are already involved, I would seek legal counsel.
There are a few homeschool legal defense organizations you can contact for guidance. They have lawyers on staff who can help you and give you the proper advice you need. Some only help members, but I think they would help you in some way or point you in the direction you need to go.
Here is a summary of Mississippi homeschool requirements from HSLDA.
I hope this helps you!
