Learning Language Arts Through Literature Review

by Judy

I have used Learning Language Arts Through Literature for all four of my children, from 2nd Grade through Freshman Highschool as of this year. All of my children like it. It is easy to use - I just follow along in the teacher book. There are about four books that they are required to read in a year, and they are classical books which are fun to read.

Learning Language Arts Through Literature teaches the kids without the endless monotomy of "busywork". They learn a lesson and then practice it. The kids don't get bored, and it doesn't take long to do a day's lesson. Each lesson is divided by week and by day, so you know exactly how much needs to be done.

I definitely recommend Learning Language Arts Through Literature for anyone who wants to teach their kids Language Arts without losing their interest, and provide them good literature to read.

Thanks for the Learning Language Arts Through Literature review, Judy. We love LLATL for all the reasons you do too! Blessings, Heather :)

Learning Language Art Through Literature Review

Learning Language Art Through Literature Review

I LOVE the simplicity of the Learning Language Arts Through Literature program! I have a challenging time getting things together but with this curriculum I do not have to! It is completely laid out for me, day by day.

We have been using it just since the start of this school year, the difference is amazing. I have a child who actually looks forward to doing work.

The cost is very reasonable, that was a a concern this past year. The prices straight from the company were surprising in their affordability. Even after searching around for a better deal! :)

Thanks for the Learning Language Art Through Literature review, Penny! I appreciate your thoughts and think other parents will find your input very helpful. We have used LLATL for over three years now and love it too! Blessings, Heather :)

Review of Learning Language Arts Through Literature

5th and 6th Grade Homeschool Curriculum Review

5th and 6th Grade Homeschool Curriculum Review

I have been homeschooling for sixteen years and I have used a huge variety of curricula but one that I recommend the most is Learning Language Arts through Literature (LLATL) homeschool curriculum.

LLATL follows the concept of teaching a child to write, by mimicking and reading good writing. I used this language arts curriculum for all three of my children between fifth and sixth grade. It is good at teaching a student how to organize thoughts and write an assignment that is enjoyable to read.

I have not bought this curriculum in a few years but I have never paid more than $100 for the teacher and student book package. I have also been able to find this curriculum at used book sales where there is a considerable savings. I keep a copy of Learning Language Arts Through Literature handy to use as a reference or to pull from for random assignments.

Great homeschool curriculum review of LLATL! I used Learning Language Arts Through Literature for the first time this year (blue book) with my first grade daughter. It is excellent curriculum and I highly recommend it too! :) Happy homeschooling, Heather

PEAH's Homeschool Savings Tips:
To save money, purchase the individual instructor/teacher guides (except first grade/blue book*) and then borrow the books needed for the lessons, from the library.

*For first grade, students learn to read and lessons require use of some specific materials for some of the games, etc.

Learning Language Arts Through Literature

Homeschooling with Literature

We have used the Learning Language Arts Through Literature curriculum for both kids and we love it!

I especially like the fact that all of the various disciplines (reading, spelling, writing, vocabulary, grammar, etc) are incorporated into one book, so there's no need to go about buying separate books for language arts and break the bank!

What's more, the components are integrated in a logical style, so that your child reads a passage, answers grammar questions related to the passage as well as comprehension exercises, has spelling words from the passage, and then is called on to write something related to the passage. It all makes sense: grammar rules and spelling words are not arbitrarily introduced out of context. The lessons are short and relevant.

Both of my children have scored very high on standardized tests, and in my opinion, this curriculum prepares children well for testing, should you need to do this for your state requirements.

Great review, Fabiola! Would you believe I had the whole first grade (blue book) LLATL learn-to-read course tucked away for years, and finally used it for the first time this year? Loved it - so easy to use and my daughter started reading quickly. Many blessings! Heather
