Lapbook Planning

Organizing Lapbooks for Homeschooling

Organizing Lapbooks for Homeschooling

I'm new to homeschooling and am almost over whelmed by the amount of information available. I did however come up with a way to organize my lapbooks before they are made.

Basically, the lapbooks are stored in the file folder that will be the base. I have them sorted in categories (Literature, Unit Studies, Holidays) that are simple enough for our young homeschool.

The Apprentice Organizer works brilliantly for storing the folders, as well as some other supplies to go along with them.

(You can find the handy Apprentice Organizer at Staples. Don't forget to sign up for their Star Teacher Program for an extra discount!) Heather :)

OUR HOME LIBRARY
by: Anonymous

I applaud your organized lapbooks.

We have filled our house with books to the point of having our own personal library. I have some shelves organized by favorite author, Maurice Sendak, James Marshall, Tomie DePaola, etc.

Other shelves are sorted by types, pop-up, board books, musical. And others are organized according to subject, fairy tales, religion, science and so on.

My 11 y.o. will constantly read books from our series collections of Hardy Boys, Star Wars, Geronimo Stilton and various comic books. In fact, he taught his younger brother how to read by staying up every night and reading Garfield comic books together.

Their love for reading has carried over to their love for learning about topics such as toy trains, robotics and animation.

Field trips to museums, the zoo and historic places in our hometown of San Antonio, Texas have enriched what they have learned through reading.

We rarely spend full price for any particular book so that we can spend the extra money on family outings. Homeschooling has been a wonderful adventure for us.
