Just Wondering...

PEAH: Homeschool Support and Savings

PEAH: Homeschool Support and Savings

I am writing a paper on the benefits of homeschooling and I used and cited a quote from one of your articles. I, in no way claimed it as my own. I was just wondering what PEAH stands for so I can cite it correctly.

Hi Kayla,
Thanks for contacting me! There are so very many benefits of homeschooling, aren't there?!

PEAH, pronounced "pay-ah", is not only an acronym for Parents Educating at Home, but its actually a Hebrew word... pe'ah, meaning "leftovers". I work to save home educators money and time, so that they will have more "leftover" for their family or to bless others!

You will find references to the word "pe'ah" in the Bible. In the Old Testament, the Israelites were to leave a corner of their fields (the pe'ah) for the poor. (Leviticus 19:9–10, 23:22; Deuteronomy 24:19–22)

In the New Testament, after Jesus feeds the 5000 people with the five loaves of bread and the two fish, he tells his disciples to "gather the leftovers (the pe'ah), so that nothing would be lost or wasted.

When they had all had enough to eat, he said to his disciples, "Gather the pieces that are left over. Let nothing be wasted." John 6:12

I know this answer is more than you asked for, but I do get asked quite often what PEAH means. :)

I hope you enjoy writing your paper. If you have any other questions or need some more benefits to homeschooling, please let me know; I'd be happy to help.

Blessings,
Heather
