I want to express how disappointed I was with the Jo-Ann store I visited for Teacher Appreciation day. Initially, I was excited over renewing my teacher discount card & having an opportunity to shop for some school materials at a great discount. However, upon requesting the renewal of my discount card, I was suddenly sorry for even troubling myself with attending this NON-event! The person that waited on me demanded proof of my homeschool status. I provided her with last year's letter from my county school board & politely explained to her why I didn't have current documentation (my county doesn't request notification until one week prior to the start of the local school year). I told her I had every intention of registering & that I would even bring in the completed documentation for her to witness my intent to homeschool but she still gave me a hard time. She went so far as to tell me NOT to try to renew next year without VERY current documentation. I won't even go into detail about a fellow employee vouching for my homeschooling & this woman basically calling both of us little less than liars. I felt awful. And the goodie bag full of samples I received... well, all I can say is... there was a bag... a reusable one... and that was ALL. So disappointing! I really hope that everyone else had a good day! Mine started with anticipation & ended with a sour taste in my mouth! I am only happy that my children didn't have to witness their momma's humiliation!
