Homeschooling is Bad Because You Don't Go to Prom?

by None
(Prom )

I am intrigued by the comment that homeschooling is bad because you do not get to go to prom. I am quite sure that line of thinking is a good reflection of public school education.

FYI... many homeschoolers are involved in co-ops or participate in groups whereby proms, get togethers, sports programs, beta clubs, 4H, FFA, and oh yes, even graduations occur.

For the record, the point of education is to prepare for life and higher learning, not social flings. Yes, social skills are very important but to place prom over education as basis to your claim is just asinine.

Prom?
by: SoCalLynn

Well, I WAS public schooled and didn't go to prom. (FYI-I had a date, we argued and ended up not going to the dance.)My oldest daughter went to public school and didn't go to prom either. She's a college graduate and doing well in her field.I homeschool my youngest and don't plan on putting her public school at all, even though she might not get to go to a prom. A prom is one moment in an entire life. This argument against homeschooling is ludicrous.

Homeschoolers have proms as well as all sorts of dances!

Really? Something that is not even true is used as an arguement against homeschooling? I find it a bit insulting...and just plain sad.
