Homeschooling in Thailand
Ever homeschooled oversees? Confused mom has questions about homeschooling in Thailand or the Philippines. Please help if you can. Thanks!Dear Heather,
Hi! I'm a Filipino and will be working in Thailand together with my husband this coming April (2011) as singers. Since the nature of our work (we also have 2 yr-old son with us so you can imagine the scenario) won't allow us much time to send our daughter 8 yrs of age to a school so we decided to home school her instead. honestly, we are totally at lost regarding that matter. I found one in the internet and sent e-mail inquiring on how to enrol my daughter and how much will it cost us. I was surprised to know that it will cost me $5000 per curriculum which is I believe we can not afford at this time.
Is there any home schooling you can recommend us which is more affordable but reliable? If so, where can I enroll my daughter, (is it possible to enroll her in the Philippines before we move to Thailand or better yet enroll her in Thailand?) How much will it cost me?
Please, we need help and we desperately want to enroll our daughter to home schooling.
Thank you and best regards,
Margie Amorsolo

Hi Margie,
Thanks for posting your questions to my website. I will try to help you as best as I can.
Some options for you are:
School of Tomorrow (Also known as ACE homeschool curriculum.) ACE ships curriculum to Thailand and the Philippines.
(You can also check out or call School of Tomorrow Philippines website: http://www.sotphil.net/index.html
It looks like they have a homeschool department that may support individual families.)
Alpha Omega Publications also ships oversees* - AOP has both online curriculum called Monarch and a distance learning academy called AOP Academy. (*AOP ships oversees, but you will have to pay the international shipping charges.)
You might want to check out the K-12 Homeschooling Program or Time4Learning Program. Both of these programs are online and make homeschooling easier for families who travel extensively or live busy lifestyles.
Blessings,
