Homeschooling in Tennessee Help
I would like to homeschool and have some questions about homeschooling in Tennessee. What do I do to start and how much will it cost?
Rebecca,
The first thing I would do when starting to homeschool is learn the homeschooling laws for your state.
You can do that easily by going to your state's government website.
You will find all the information you need to make sure you are homeschooling according to the laws in your state.
Here is the link for your state:

You have several options when homeschooling in Tennessee - choose the one that best fits your needs.
I would also contact or join a state or local homeschool assocation.
THEA is a stateside organization that can provide additional Tennessee home schooling information and help.
As far as the home schooling costs, it really depends on the family. You can choose the resources and materials you like and that fit within your family's budget.
The average family spends around $500 on homeschooling, but many spend a lot less, it just depends on your needs and what your budget will allow.
To help you begin choosing curriculum and materials, read some homeschool curriculum reviews written by other home educators. They will help you learn more about a certain product or curriculum and if it will work with your family.
If you need more help on choosing curriculum or have other questions about Tennessee homeschooling, please do not hesitate to ask/post your questions. There are many extremely helpful and nice homeschooling Tennesseeans. :)
Many blessings to you as you begin homeschooling in Tennessee!
Heather :)
