Homeschooling Creates World Citizens
Our sons, adopted from Russia, have been home schooled since arriving 8 years ago, although this was not our original intention. Having experienced life, education, and culture from birth within a different culture, they did not want to lose that.
Home schooling allows them to continue their journey of self-discovery through experiencing both Russian and American cultures. This would have been lost had they entered a traditional school setting.
They also meet people from many different cultures, religions, and age groups on a regular basis given their many activities outside of the home. As they experience these new relationships and learn through the news about the world around them, we encourage them to go more in-depth on these topics. They regularly learn about world geography, politics, economics, business, religion, language, music, and art as seen through the eyes of different cultures.
We are truly creating world citizens! Thanks for sharing some wonderful benefits to homeschooling, Kris! Blessings, Heather :)
