among the reasons I homeschool...
by: Linda

You are so right about the pace of public school being too demanding and controlling for some students and families. We finally hit the wall about midway through 1st grade. My child's self esteem had tanked, she felt pushed, and was so unhappy. We opted to homeschool starting January of that school year using a very parent friendly curriculum (Time4Learning) because I was terrified of homeschooling. Fortunately, my child blossomed academically, her self-esteem grew before my very eyes and I have to attribute that to homeschooling, our schedule, and the individualization of her instruction. I was against homeschooling, but it did not take me long to discover that it was the right thing for my child.

I love to homeschool. I have to admit I was looking forward to having both kids in school snd was wondering how and what I was going to do when they weren't home during the day. But since we ran into some problems with my oldest and a teacher or two I said forget it my oldest isn't going thru that again and I didn't want to put my youngest thru that. I know that this way they arent falling behind and just getting left there, they actually have a teacher that cares.
