Money-saving Homeschool Prom Tips

Dressing up. Music. Fun memories. Great friends. It's time to start planning for your homeschool prom, but what will you wear?

Excuse Me?

I hear some of you thinking... "Homeschoolers have proms?"

Yes... homeschooling is growing at a rapid rate of approximately 15% per year and homeschoolers do more than compete in Geography and Spelling Bees. :) Homeschool students have graduation ceremonies, play on sports teams, compete in tournaments, attend dances AND enjoy homeschool prom night each year.

Okay, back to what YOU will wear on this special once a year event...

Guy's Money-saving Tips

Instead of renting a tuxedo, guys can buy a suit for almost the same price, or less. Not only will you have a nice suit to wear for your prom night, you will also be ready for other dressy events during the year like weddings, dances, parties, or just to wear to church.

Don't have the money to buy a new suit? Borrow, or buy one at a used clothing store. Most teens do not wear suits these days. If you do find one at a thrift store, most often they will look like they were never worn. Guys go through growth spurts during their teen years; what fits today often doesn't fit tomorrow, so into the donation pile it goes!

Girl's Money-saving Tips

Prom dresses are fun to wear and shop for, but the price can break your budget. You could spend a nice chunk of change on a new prom dress that you will only wear once.

Or, you could save your money and buy a used one at your local thrift or second hand store.

Most dresses that you find used have only been worn once, for a few hours. You will only have to spend a little on dry cleaning, or if you can wash it by hand, you will save even more.
