I'm stunned at some of the comments - yes, I agree that JoAnn's does not have top notch fabric choice and you may have to altar your dream dress a little as my granddaughter did, but this is a FREE contest. In addition it did get 800 young people interested in sewing for all the right reasons. Most likely today you can purchase a nice dress at a discount for less then you can make one, but you will never know the pride of being able to say, "I made it!" I guided my granddaughter through hers, and no she did not win, but she is so very proud of her accomplishment! THANK YOU, JoAnn's

I'm going to do this. I love to sew!! Already tried for the Halloween costume contest, but didn't get picked. I'll give this one a shot! Fancy dresses are my thing. :)
