Homeschool Preschool Mess-less Painting

by Dustie Meads

A tent makes a great place to watercolor, containing the mess nicely and allowing the creativity to flow!

Homeschool Preschool Painting? Yikes! Try this great less-mess idea and let your little ones paint, paint, paint!

My granddaughter, Mackie, loves to paint with watercolors, but at 3 years old she would get nearly as much paint off the paper, as on.

When it was warmer, we painted outside, but with winter approaching a way to allow her to paint, yet contain the mess, was really needed.

Then I hit on a great solution! I set up a little pop-up tent that I'd bought at a garage sale and put in her little table and chair. I then dressed her a shirt that was already stained and left her in her panties, giving her the go ahead to paint till her little heart was content!

The plastic floor of the tent kept messes off the carpet and made clean up easy. Even paint splattered onto the tent walls cleaned up nicely.

Best of all, after the painting session was over and all was cleaned up, we also discovered that the tent was a great place for a story and a nap!
