Homeschool Preschool Curriculum Suggestions

I'm looking for a good curriculum to begin homeschooling my kinesthetic 4 1/2 year old. I myself happen to be a learner by doing. Do you have any suggestions? The time to begin is nearing and I don't have a solid plan yet!

Hi Monica,
I highly recommend Five In A Row for anyone, but especially for new homeschooling parents of young children.

I have used Five In a Row (FIAR) with all my children and so far, all have loved it. It's inexpensive, fun and so easy-to-use. My seven year old asked to go through it twice because she loved it so much.

I believe that young preschoolers do not need formal curriculum. I never used one with either of my boys. I just took them to the library and read all kinds of books from fiction to nonfiction. I took them on field trips to the zoo, science center, dinosaur musuem etc and explained things as we went. I played with them with toys from Legos to board games explaining how to put a set together or how to count when we played a game. We cooked together, played outside, and joined a weekly playgroup. We added in a few select classes like music. At the age of 4 I added some workbooks for preschool and K that are found at places like Costco. My kids now are 5 and 8 and are doing well academically and socially.
