Homeschool Portfolio Organization

by valarie
(Rural PA)

I have three homeschoolers and I have ADHD myself, so homeschool organization is everything!

I have a file drawer for each child for their portfolio assignments. Before we start school in the fall (we take summers off) I make a folder for each month.

Since I like to keep one thing from each subject, I put a checklist on the front of each folder, so I can mark off each subject as we find something worthy of saving.

Next, I go through the workbooks and assignments I have planned, and put post-it flags on the ones that look like they would be a good fit for the portfolio. I also highlight them in my planner. I don't always use those assignments as the ones I want to save, but at least I have an idea ahead of time.

At the end of the year, it's pretty easy to cull the portfolio down to a manageable amount, and those get stored in bankers boxes in storage.
