Homeschool Language Arts/Writing Question

Am I correct in assuming that your requirement that students use a traditional course of study precludes them or their parents from selecting their own, individualized curriculum and teaching materials? One home school principal told me in an interview that many of her students were intimidated or put off by traditional textbooks. Instead, they were looking for teaching materials that engaged and motivated students who were struggling with learning writing skills. Can they not create their own course of study using whatever books and materials they choose?
Cocoa, FL Hi Lee,
Homeschool families can choose whatever type of curriculum that works best with their family or student. It can be more time consuming to put your own course together, but for many parents, the time investment is worth it.
