Did you know that as a home educator there are many merchants that offer a homeschool discount to help you save on your homeschooling expenses?
Anyone who knows me, knows I love a great deal!

I enjoy hunting them down and sniffing them out.

I hate to waste time too. So I have listed the merchants who include home educators in their educational discount programs.

Besides the merchants listed below, you can receive additional discounts and savings through PEAH’s Homeschool Discount Program.

To apply for a teacher discount card, please mail a copy of one of the following requirements to the address below.

Home Schooler Affidavit or IHIP approval letter from School District or your state Home Schooling Certificate.

Please include your name, home phone number, and the address where the card should be mailed. Please also include the name of your (home)school, your (home)school address and phone number, and the name of your (home)school principal.

FYI... Saving Time Tip...
A reader just emailed us letting us know that if you have an old ACM Teacher Discount Card, take your old card to your nearest store location and they may issue a new plastic card on the spot.

Books-A-Million includes home educators in their educator discount program. They offer a homeschool discount of 20% on materials used in your home school. Sign-up in-store for their teacher discount card.

Borders Books offers a 20% discount on any products for your home school. You need to sign up in-store, for their teacher discount card by filling out an application and showing “proof of educator status”.

Barnes & Noble also offers a 20% discount. Home educators need to sign-up in store and show “proof of educator status”, to receive the special savings.

Creation Engine provides academic discounts on software and hardware to the education market. They also include home educators and homeschooled students in their academic pricing with a valid academic ID.

Discover Channel Stores
Discovery offers you a 15% discount on your purchases. We have found some great supplemental curriculum materials at deep discounts in their clearance section and have picked up great gifts for birthdays and Christmas! (Discount not valid on gift certificates, gift cards, special orders, telescopes/accessories or previous purchases. Cannot be combined with other offers.)

Fed-Ex Kinkos offers a 15% Educator Discount. You can sign-up in-store by filling out an application or home educators have just showed their PEAHcard for instant savings.

Hancock Fabrics
Receive a 15% homeschool discount with PEAH's homeschool id card, at your local Hancock Fabrics store. All locations nationally.

JoAnn Fabrics
Need some material or craft supplies for homeschool unit studies or educational projects?

Another great and popular homeschool discount (15%) is given by JoAnn Fabric and Craft Stores. You can sign up for the JoAnn Fabrics and Craft Stores Teacher Discount Card, by using your PEAHcard number or by getting a free access code from our website.

Lakeshore Learning Materials offers a 15% homeschool discount. You must sign up in store by filling out an application. They have 44 locations nationwide and are growing!(I have talked to a lot of companies, and I can tell you that the Lakeshore Learning folks are some of the nicest!)

Michaels
Depending on your location, you may be able to receive a 10% educator's discount at Michaels. Definitely ask and if you receive one, let us know, so we can tell other home educators in your area!

Office Max
Sign up for the Office MaxPerks card for teachers! Home Educators can sign-up in-store or enroll online and earn a $5 reward. (See our website for more details.) For every $75 you spend, you earn $10.

Office Depot
The STAR Teacher Program is specifically for educators and school administrators, and incorporates the benefits of the Office Depot Worklife Program. In addition to Worklife benefits, the STAR program also carries a 5% at-register discount on purchases, as well as a 15% discount on copy center purchases in addition to the 15% reward for copy center purchases past $35. There are also many events at the Office Depot stores for the teachers, including bi-annual Teacher Appreciation Breakfasts that offer free breakfast and giveaways for teachers.

The program includes everyday discounts on purchases and a variety of special events and promotions during the year. Sign-up in-store. Go to the customer service counter and ask for the Star Teacher Enrollment form. Valid ID may be required.

Staples
Staples also has a reward program for teachers. It is called the Staples Teacher Reward Program. Receive $10 back in rewards for every $100 you spend on qualifying purchases - up to $70 per year. Use your rewards checks on just about anything in any Staples® store, by catalog or online at Staples.com®. Receive FREE delivery on all your catalog and online orders, no matter how much you spend.

Waldenbooks offers a 20% Classroom card to educators. Home educators can also sign up for this educational discount program, but filling out their in-store application and showing proof that you homeschool.

Wal-Mart
Again, depending on your location, you may be able to get a homeschool discount at Wal-Mart, in their fabric and notions department on items purchased for school projects. Again... definitely ask, and if you do receive a discount, let us know and we will spread the word!

Who doesn't, right?

Well, I am not sure I do anymore, after my free online home schooling fiasco. It cost me almost $100 and hours of my precious time! I got duped, but you don't have to!
