Homeschool Diagnostic Tests Question

by Michelle
(Ohio)

Can I skip the homeschool diagnostic tests and just order my son his 7th grade curriculum? I know they can be very helpful, but if I'm not required by Ohio law to take them then I'm not going to have him do the tests.

Hi Michelle,
Homeschool diagnostic tests are helpful if you want to know where your son would place in a particular curriculum. If your son is advanced in a certain subject, the test would show you where to start him in the curriculum. Depending on the curriculum, sometimes you can save money because you won't have to buy certain texts, etc. Diagnostic tests would be helpful when switching to homeschooling mid-school year. Sometimes a parent is unsure what has been covered at school; diagnostic tests eliminate the guess work and extra time used to figure out where a student is at.

I hope this helps, Michelle! Enjoy the journey!
Blessings,
Heather :)
