Home Schooling Curriculum Questions, etc.
We are thinking of home schooling our 3 kids, ages 13, 10 and 7, I have done a lot of reading and browsing the web on home schooling but still have some questions, how do I know if my kids are learning all they should be for that grade, how do they do exam, will they be able to study further after finishing with "matric" and lastly how do I know what curriculum is the one?
Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you so much,
Mandy Hi Mandy,
Thanks for posting your questions to my site. So we can best help you, where do you live?
As far as knowing what curriculum is the "one"... I can just tell by knowing my kids and myself. You know what your children are like. I look for curriculum that will best work with our family, schedule, time and my kids learning styles. If you are not sure how they best learn, you can do this quick and free learning style test with them.
I look for curriculum that is easy to use and is interesting to me. Not only do your kids have to like what you choose, but I think the parent who does the majority of the teaching needs to really like it too.
Since I have limited time, I try to find curriculum that allows me to maximize my time or that I can use with multiple children. This doesn't always work if there is a large span in ages, though. Next year I am going to try to teach both my 5yo and 9yo together - they will be in 1st and 5th grade. It will be interesting, but I think I can do it with the right curriculum... we shall see! :)
