As a homeschooling parent, you have greater demands on you, as you tackle the huge responsibility of personally guiding your children in their educational journey. Although the responsibility may be great, the rewards are greater and worth every minute you invest in your children! :)
We can't do life alone. We can’t do life alone. We need positive, mutually encouraging relationships to live, no matter how introverted we are. We need to give and receive. People help us grow, see things from a different perspective and encourage us.The same is also true when it comes to homeschooling. No matter who you are and how long you have been homeschooling, giving and receiving encouragement and support is vital to your success. The first thing that comes to my mind when I think of home school support is a physical support group offering meetings, activities or a home school convention. Homeschool support comes in a variety of ways, though, like a homeschool co-op, homeschool field trips and play groups, friendships, and area homeschooling activities. Involvement in a local community of like minded people is important – actually, very important, but there are many other ways to find support to fit your specific needs. An outside job, young children or baby may prevent you from being an active member of a local support group, but have no fear... :) Home school support is only a click away! There are many places to find support! With the world at our finger tips – thanks to the internet, support is only a click away! You can find a wealth of resources online from home school websites to yahoo groups to homeschool forums and message boards. Homeschool publications like homeschool magazines, books and newsletters are also great resources to find encouragement and guidance. The best way to find home school support, though, is to join your local support group! (Yes, as a homeschool group leader, I am a little biased!) Over the years I have communicated, encouraged, and received encouragement from other moms globally, via email, websites and forums. My cyber friends are an important source of encouragement but nothing compares to communicating face to face. Local home school support groups provide you the opportunity to interact with others in a way that the internet, magazines, newsletters, websites can’t. Often you and your children will find encouragement and support through the friendships that you build. What ever way you find support, there is strength and wisdom in community and you will find answers to your questions and success in your journey!
