Help! I'm a New Homeschooler!
I have decided to pull my son out of public school, he is in 6th grade. I just had him take an online placement math test, the test was 3 & 4th grade math; he failed the 4th grade portion horribly. My question is I want to pull him out ASAP. I have books and been online for 2 days straight... there is a LOT of information out there and its a little overwhelming. All I want is some curriculum to get him started. I have seen many things online, but I am a single mom and its just not affordable at this time. I believe text books and worksheets is the best to start out with, but where can i get this stuff? And I would like to test him periodically, but i dont know where to get all this. Someone please HELP!!!
Thanks for posting your question to my website. I apologize for not answering sooner; I got a little behind with our move. Hopefully you have found something that is working for you and your son.
If not, here are some possibilities for you:
The Head of the Class - theheadoftheclass.com is a free online curriculum your son might like. Currently they offer curriculum for grades prek through fifth grade.
Ambleside Online is another website that you should check out. You will find free curriculum resources and ideas, based on the Charlotte Mason method, for Kindergarten through grade 12. Read this online brochure to learn more about the Charlotte Mason homeschooling method and Ambleside.
You can try these programs out and if you find something different that you like better, you can switch. You will find some places to purchase second hand curriculum on this recent used Abeka homeschool curriculum post.
