Hands-on Homeschool Fun: Building Time

by Judith
(Spotsylvania, VA)

We have used empty gallon jugs and old crates to build a fort. We have taken old plastic table cloths of various thicknesses and covered the fort to see how to make it waterproof and wind proof. We also have taken this to a new level as we also check to see about insulation and how we hear in the different environments. The crates serve as storage for toys for outside play and we have also converted several with plastic garbage bags to hold books and old floor rugs to sit on. This has allowed for waterproofing of sorts. we also used others to act as cubbies to hold lunchboxes and drinks. The gallon containers also are filled half full to add weight so the structure does not blow away with windy conditions.

What a fun, creative idea, Judith! Thanks for sharing! Blessings, Heather :)
