Five In A Row Homeschool Unit Studies

FIAR Homeschool Unit Studies

Smart homeschooling mom of six uses Five In A Row homeschool unit studies so she can school multiple children at once and keep her home running smoothly.

I love the fact that Five In A Row homeschool curriculum uses classic books to teach the lessons. My kids are learning to love reading the classics. I also love that it packs so much learning into one easy lesson that takes 45 minutes to 1 hour a day to teach. I love that I can teach multiple ages at once. There is a curriculum for preschool age, ages 4-8, ages 8-12, and the author is recently coming out with ages 12+.

I have only used it or a few weeks, but we love it. My kids are enjoying home school, where before each day was a long struggle to get them through each subject, we now have fun, and they can't wait to see what will happen next!

I have used Five In A Row for Preschool, Kindergarten, 2nd grade, 3 grade and fourth grade. I have caught my 3rd grader sneaking the book we are reading into his room so he can read what happens next before everyone else. He hated to read anything but comic books before this. The curriculum makes the stories come alive.

The thing I like most about it is that my five school age children love it! And that it doesn't take a lot of time, so as a stay at home mom of 6, I still have plenty of time to get the laundry and dishes done and take care of our one year old. We can get school done while she naps! You do have to use a separate math and phonics curriculum though.

There are three or four books for each age, except preschool, which I don't use. I just included my preschool age child with my Kindergartner. Each book is $35 on the Fiveinarow.com website. Then there are Bible study books that you can add that correspond with the lessons. So it's a little over $100 for each age group for a year's worth of curriculum. But it is reusable if you have multiple children.

I borrow the ones we use from the library, because we just can not afford more curriculum this year.

Excellent review of Five In A Row homeschool unit studies, Katie! I have gone through FIAR three times so far and never tire of it. Thanks for adding your encouraging story and helpful tips; they will be so helpful to others. Blessings, Heather :)
