First Time Home Schooling Dad

Home School Financial Aid Question

Home School Financial Aid Question

Hi! My question is can a parent receive financial aid in homeschooling? Who pays for books and things?

My parents seem to think that a parent can get paid for homeschooling. The money that goes to the Public Schools will be sent to me.

Have you heard of any program like that?

Thanks,
Mr. Traeye

Hi Gerald,
Although it would be nice if we got paid to homeschool, the answer is no, the money from your taxes that goes toward public education will not make it back into your pocket.

If we received government money, it would increase the government's control over our home schools = more regulation; most homeschooling families don't want that!

When you homeschool your children, you are the one who will pay for books and materials. There are many ways to homeschool for almost free, though. You will find lots of great free resources at your library and online.

Homeschool groups often hosts used curriculum fairs and book sales; a great place to find inexpensive homeschooling materials.

I hope this helps! If you have any other questions, please feel free to ask.

To your homeschool success and savings,
Heather :)
