Earn 5-Minute Breaks to Improve Homeschool Classroom Time and Character

by aardvark
(Virginia)

In our homeschool classroom, a simple idea that worked well for (some of) our kids was letting them earn 5-minute breaks for each lesson finished (appropriately).

We are quite eclectic, so for us parts of lessons counted too. Language arts was not a packaged curriculum, but was made up of spelling, penmanship, grammar, writing, etc.

Deciding whether to save up or use their little breaks was a lesson in and of itself, and built character in delayed gratification and budgeting.
