New York Homeschool Help

I have diabetes, so I keep getting sick and ending up in the hospital. I've missed a lot of school work. I keep getting left back and I'm sick of it. So, I'm just wondering can I get home schooled?

Hi Kerra,
Thanks so much for posting your question; I'm sorry you are sick so much. I can understand your frustration about missing school and getting left behind. I'm sure many days you don't feel well enough to complete missed assignments.

Yes, your parents can homeschool you; homeschooling is legal in all 50 states. New York does have stricter homeschooling requirements, so make sure your parents do some research before beginning.

You can find your state's home school laws by visiting your state's website.

HSLDA (Home School Legal Defense Association) provides great, up-to-date legal information. LEAH is also a large state-wide support group that can help you find support or other homeschoolers in your area.

Here is the New York homeschooling requirements via HSLDA.

I think you will find homeschooling a welcome solution for your situation. Good Luck!

If you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to ask.
Blessings,
Heather
