Home Schooling in Mexico Question

Home Schooling in Mexico Question

Concerned mom wants to know if she can home school her child in Mexico? Please help if you can...

My family had to move to our home in Mexico because we had no other place to go because of the economy and loss of job. My son speaks no Spanish, so school here for him is almost impossible because of the language barrier. HELP! What can I do?

Yes you can homeschool in Mexico.
by: Jon

Yes you can homeschool in Mexico and it is perfectly legal. Contact the INEA (Instituto Nacional de La Educacion de los Adultos) in your city and they will help you. You can look for your own program or use their modules and then get a state diploma. (It's Only in Spanish)

If he only speaks English, two good programs are ACE and My Fathers World. If he is a U.S. Citizen he should be able to get a diploma from the states.

Hope this helps.

Homeschooling in Mexico

If your son only speaks English and is not a US citizen you can contact Lighthouse Academy through ACE ministries or if you dont want a Christian program there are other programs that accept children from other countries. For example www.k12.com.

Hope this helps.

If I choose to homeschool my American children in Mexico, do I still have to register them in the U.S and follow a certain curriculum? Are there any that are free?

You do not have to register your children in the in a school in the states if they are living in Mexico. As to free programs, there are very few but here is one I found. http://allinonehomeschool.com/ Hope this helps.

Answer to your question on legal studies in Mexico NEW
by: Homeschool Embajadores de Cristo

In Mexico, all schools have to have a registration number or clave to be legal. Homeschoolers in Mexico study at home or in a group and then go to their nearest INEA or in our case ICHEA because we are in Chihuahua, and register to either study their material and then take a test or they can wait until 15 years of age and take the global exam to receive their elementary and Jr. High diplomas. The program is called the 10-14 program. The last time we talked with them, they were developing a High School program as well. Their program is in Spanish only and it's all free. There are also Jr. High (Secundaria) and High Schools (Prepa) that offer their courses online (Escuela Abierta)but they aren't free. Hope this helps. Here is a link to the INEA. http://www.inea.gob.mx/index.php/educacionabc/edadultprimsecbc.html

On Convalidation NEW
by: Homeschool Embajadores de Cristo

If your child studies in the USA and then moves to Mexico, the schools will admit them but they may have to take test before being admitted. If they are going to study at home the only 2 options available right now are to have their studies reviewed for validation in Mexico: http://www.sincree.sep.gob.mx/es/sincree/Menu_2
or to go to the INEA and take a global exam: http://www.inea.gob.mx/#leyenda

Hope this helps.

Job is moving to Mexico NEW
by: Anonymous

Our son is in the 11th grade this year in FL, all Honor classes 3.6 GPA. In order for my husband to keep his job and for us stay together we must move to Mexico with him. Is there a English speaking school for high school Honor students in Ciudad Del Carmen, Mexico?
And if not, is there a homeschool on internet that a Floridian can take while living in Mexico and still be able to graduate/pass and be able to attend Florida colleges on the same level as if he attended a Florida high school the whole time? We will still have our residence in Florida to retire to one day. Or whenever the job is over to come back home to our FL home. I have looked up and called and emailed just about every school official and county official I can and they either told me there is nothing or either they didn't call me or email back at all. Any help would be very appreciated.

living in Tamulipas mx NEW
by: Anrobinonymous

I have been in mexico for 4 years now. My children are age 10 and 12 they have been inschool here for awhile. At first it was hard but kids pick up the llanguage really fast. Now my children read and write and speak Spanish. You don't have to have a visa to attend school. Also you will receive a diploma when you graduate. They also give your children" becas"which is money every month if there grades are 8 or above.my children's becas help so much with extra costs in school. One of my daughters love dance compition and that money pays for uniforms and my other daughter does a lot of art work plus she gets paid to translate . over all my experience here has been OK.

Homeschool groups in Mexico NEW
by: Homeschool Embajadores de Cristo

If you are a Mexican citizen and your children are born outside the country you can get them their dual-citizenship very easily. Go to the registro civil with all the documentation they ask for and in 2 or 3 weeks you will get their birth certificate. My wife did this and it was easy.

For homeschool groups in Mexico: www.homeschoolingmexico.com.mx is a good place to start.

Hope this helps,

Jon

Looking for homeschool in Mexico as a Non-US citizen NEW
by: uhyung10

I'm Asian and have been living in Mexico for one and a half year. I'm attending an International school. But, I can't still speak English fluently and my Spanish is really bad as hell. And my readiness and will are too feeble. So, what I'm considering is to homeschool in the English language. I don't know what options I have. I would like to enter a college in the Netherlands. Does anyone what options are legal and suitable for me.
If you can give a hand to me, contact to uhyung10@gmail.com or leave a message to (+52)55-2775-2197 (Don't prank call, though)
