Brave Writer Homeschool Writing Curriculum

Brave Writer, a homeschool writing curriculum, really helped our whole family get past the tears and frustrations of writing to the love of story telling. My kids loved to tell stories, but they hated to write! With Brave Write, I was able to focus on the specific steps to successful writing, and bring the story telling that we do over dinner or on trips into our homeschool classroom.

We started this year with The Writer's Jungle for both our 8 and 11 year olds, and have stuck with it. It says 9 and up, but it worked great for both of them. So many other things we've tried lasted a few weeks, and then seemed to be too inflexible to be useful when we hit a difficult spot, or when we had a lot going on. Also, I really liked that the Writer's Jungle works for both of them, and will continue to work, I think for a number of years. I love the stories they are writing, and am really satisfied with their engagement.

The materials aren't the cheapest, but the digital version was reasonable - a lot less expensive than the printed materials.

I think what I liked best about The Writer's Jungle homeschool writing curriculum, is how it speaks to me, as a teacher, and provides me the insights that are needed to become a writing coach, not just a writing teacher.
