Earn High School Credits with Beautiful Feet Books
Mom gives Beautiful Feet Books a beautiful review. High school students earn one credit of history and literature at the same time.
I have four children that I have homeschooled. My oldest has been to private school - some in elementary, junior high and one year in senior high school. She really enjoyed Beautiful Feet. It is a literary curriculum that studies history from different time periods such as the Medieval, Ancient, U.S. and World History. She enjoyed it especially since it wasn't a regular textbook; the student gets to read all kinds of literature to study history.
There is a study guide to go along, mapping out what books to read and when; there are questions to answer, short papers to write, and a couple of videos to watch if you choose.
We have put the short papers into a notebook which makes a nice collection at the end of the year. Since this curriculum requires literature reading, students in high school can earn 1 credit for history and 1 credit for literature. This curriculum begins in the primary grades, although I have only used it for Junior and Senior high students.
Great way to hit two birds with one stone; study history and literature at the same time! Instead of reading a textbook for history, why not read and study great literature from the different time periods and earn two credits at the same time? Great Beautiful Feet Books review and time-saving tip! Blessings, Heather :)Would you like to leave a comment, or write your own review? Use the links below...

Beautiful Feet Books History Curriculum
Learn history through literature with affordable homeschool history curriculum. An enthusiastic mom shares why she uses Beautiful Feet Books and offers some money-saving tips!
I have been homeschooling my 2 girls for about 4 years now and am so excited to be using this curriculum again.
It is a literature-based homeschool history program - and very economical. I believe the teacher's manual is about $15. Many of the books used in this program can be found at your local library. I really wanted to own the books, but did not have the budget to spend on buying them all new through the Beautiful Feet website. I was, however, able to find most of them in used homeschool bookstores or online.
The books used are all well-written and kept the interest of my girls (and me!). Not only do we read books together, but the student then records information they've learned into their own history notebook. I love that at the end of the year, my girls end up with a lovely book that they can show to friends & family to help display what they've learned. In fact, my girls still love to look through their old books just for fun!
I believe this book is recommended for 1-3rd grade and I will say that I did it with my girls in 1 grade. It worked out very well for us for the most part. I did skip some of the "older" work such as report writing, etc. but for the most part, we followed the curriculum to a t.
If you want to get the most out of this curriculum, I recommend waiting until they are in 3rd grade. (Though, as I mentioned, I did it with my girls when they were younger and absolutely loved it!!)
Great Beautiful Feet Books review, Shannon! Thanks for sharing this literature-based homeschool history curriculum with others. Your thoughts are greatly appreciated! Blessings, Heather :) PS We used this curriculum when my two oldest were younger and enjoyed it as well!

Beautiful Feet Books - All Grades
by Annie P

Enjoy learning history with homeschool history curriculum that uses real books and real stories to teach lessons.
I have used Beautiful Feet Books' homeschool history curriculum with my children from 2nd through 11th grade. I can't say how much I appreciate it! My children LOVE history and I give much of the credit to the BF books and curriculum. I did not like history in school and dreaded teaching it.
Beautiful Feet provides real books and real stories to teach lessons, keeping history alive and not boring. Some books may be fictional in the aspect of a few characters may not be real, but the context is accurate and much is learned.
The teachers guide is needed and we've used it a variety of ways. In most cases, no preparations was/is needed by me except maybe to pre-read a few stories so I can better discuss them. When my children were younger, it would guide me through assignments although sometimes I altered them to suite the child.
For the younger readers, reading aloud is necessary; but once the children were in mid-elementary, reading aloud became optional but still looked forward to. My older children can work alone out of the guide, coming to me for discussions or requesting alterations to assignments etc. In all levels, questions ranged from sentence answers to paragraphs to short essays (or more with the older levels).
One thing that is not stressed is the rote memorization of names and dates... If that is important to you, keep a log of important dates as you go and re-visit them occasionally.
There are no set tests. By the quality of discussions, answers and writing assignments, it has been clear to me if my child has attained an understanding and/or mastery of the material.
A downfall is the book sets can be pricey for some families, but they are absolutely reusable for each child (with the exception of colored timelines) and we have found the books themselves are total keepers - not ones to pass-on without knowing they'd be returned.
What an excellent review of Beautiful Feet Books homeschool history curriculum, Annie! The details you provide will definitely help others who are looking for an engaging, non-traditional homeschool history curriculum. Thanks so much! Blessings, Heather :)
