A butterfly that landed on our door
making a plane to determine flight differences
boys working on different widths and weight
which one will fly the farthest?
My children are not science buffs, they like random experiments but nothing else. So this year for our homeschool science curriculum, we used
Apologia Zoology 1, Flying Creatures of the 5th Day. My children loved it. I was concerned that they would be bored with only studying flying creatures but they weren't. They loved the insect chapters, bats, and pterosaurs.
The only real downside for us was trying to get in the insect chapters before it got too cold to find insects, if we do this book again with my younger son, I will definitely be starting it in May to go throughout the summer months.
We actually finished our science this year in a timely manner. Many times in the past we have had to finish science in the summer, or have even put it aside due to lack of interest or too much frustration.
I'm so excited to have found a homeschool science curriculum that is interesting, Godly based and my children love. While I'm not thinking they will be scientists, at least they will know and understand science enough to get through college.
In a few weeks we will start
Zoology 2, Swimming Creatures with my 4th, 2nd and k-gardener. I'm really looking forward to another exciting and interesting year with them. The 7th grader moves up to Apologia General Science.
