In no time, it seemed, he was reading, writing, and spelling with excellence because we faithfully did the lessons five days a week. Each lesson is short enough to keep an interest yet not over-work the child. My son was so excited to know how to read that he began reading higher grade level books quickly and with no pressure from me. We started him in 3rd grade at age 7. All children may not follow this exact pattern, but with enthusiasm from the parent and much persistence, you can't go wrong. This home school reading program is neither frilly nor colorful, which can tend to take their focus off of what they are learning, and I really like that. Alpha Phonics works with struggling older readers as well. I recommend Alpha Phonics home school reading program because it works and is very organized and simple.
