Alpha Omega Homeschool Spanish Curriculum Help

by Carol
(Kure Beach, NC)

Have you ever used Alpha Omega homeschool Spanish curriculum? Did your family like it? Homeschooling mom of teen would like your feedback...

I was hoping to put my daughter (11th grade) in a Spanish class at our local community college. But due to state budget cuts, that program is no longer provided. Now I'm faced with finding a quick solution.

We've used Rosetta Stone in the past, but are not pleased with it. Would you recommend Alpha Omega Lifepac? I'd rather not do SOS and avoid the computer. Just trying to find a solution that is economical and would satisfy getting foreign language credit. Thanks!

AOP Homeschool Spanish Curriculum
by: Heather

Hi Carol,

Although we use Alpha Omega curriculum, we have never used the Spanish LifePacs. I asked another homeschooling mom who did and she said that the AOP Spanish Lifepacs were long on vocabulary and memorization but short on conversation. But she was about to use it again with her next child this year; so that's good!

She also said that Alpha Omega is set up more like a high school program. Her husband speaks Spanish and it was his choice after using Powerglide with their 1st child.

Her daughter who used both I & II, did fine when she went to Guatemala afterwards.

In the process of responding to you, another mom submitted a review of La Clase Divertida; homeschool Spanish curriculum that I've never heard of. It sounded very interesting; you might be interested in looking into it.
