Sometimes we are served up circumstances that are anything but ideal.
To continue homeschooling amidst family crisis', death, sickness, newborns, sick kids or a job change, taking a more "hands free" approach is needed.
Four years ago, my mom died of cancer. She spent the last ten months of her life an hour away from me, in a hospital palliative care unit. With a newborn baby and two middle school aged children, I spent the entire school year, traveling three or more days a week visiting her in the hospital.

But homeschooling became quite difficult with the baby and traveling to see my mom. I knew that her days were limited and wanted to be able to spend as much time as I could with her.

We do our devotions together in the morning and then my children work through their assignments independently.
Both my husband and I monitor what they do and together we mark their work in the evening. When there is no time for me to mark, my children can conveniently mark each others work.

FYI...We do not use AOP for our home school math curriculum. We started using Saxon when we first began homeschooling and it works well for our family.
However, Saxon doesn't provide enough Geometry to meet our home school high school diploma requirements, so my daughter is working through AOP's Geometry course...so far without much difficulty!
