Alpha and Omega Homeschool Success

Alpha and Omega Homeschool Success

Veteran home educator used Alpha and Omega homeschool curriculum for twelve years with her two sons, find out why...

I used Alpha and Omega curriculum for twelve years teaching my two sons. I taught 1st grade through 12 grade. The thing I liked most about it was how it could be self paced to the students needs - if they did not grasp the concept you could spend additional time teaching the information.

I found AOP curriculum very affordable as you could buy it straight from the Alpha-Omega website that offered discounts, as well as buying it both new and used on auction sites or home schooling book trading sights. I was very happy with the curriculum and would use it again.

Wow, you successfully taught your sons all the way through to the end of high school ā€“ kudos to you! Thanks for sharing why you chose and stuck with Alpha Omega curriculum for all those years.
Blessings, Heather

P.S. Please feel free to come back again ā€“ Iā€™m sure you have a wealth of ideas and guidance to offer those still in the homeschooling trenches! :)

My Bad Experience with Alpha and Omega Curriculum

Bad Alpha Omega Curriculum Experience

Bad Alpha Omega Curriculum Experience

Michigan homeschooling mom shares her bad experience with Alpha and Omega curriculum...

I've used Alpha and Omega homeschool curriculum for two years. We started with Switched-On Schoolhouse (SOS) CD-Rom and the second year we went with textbooks. Alpha and Omega was the most AWFUL homeschooling experience that my child and I have gone through! There were all kinds of mistakes that the writers and editors made. There were also mistakes made in the account of Biblical stories and facts. Many things were even spelled wrong in the English Textbooks and SOS. There were even mistakes in the Answer Keys! Never again will we use Alpha and Omega Homeschool Curriculum. It was terrible, and I would like to get all of my money back!
Christine

Christine, I am sorry that you had such a bad experience with Alpha and Omega curriculum. Usually, if one product isn't a good fit, switching to another curriculum option works. Although, we have never used Switched-on Schoolhouse, we used Alpha Omega curriculum - Lifepacs for many years, starting in 7th grade, I believe. We didn't notice a huge amount of errors though - from time to time, my kids would see things, but nothing huge. What grade/s were you using? Did you contact AOP about the errors?

Thanks for sharing your Alpha and Omega curriculum experience with others. I appreciate your honesty and I know other parents do too! Blessings, Heather :)

Alpha and Omega Homeschool Consumer Math

by Jeanne Spaulding

Alpha and Omega Homeschool Consumer Math

Alpha and Omega Homeschool Consumer Math

Last year, we used Alpha and Omega homeschool Consumer Math program as an elective for our 12th grade student. We wanted her to have a hold on how to do those things that you may need to know in life.

The Lifepac units are as follows:
Creative Math
Fractions, Decimals and Percents
Family Finances I
Family Finances II
Construction and Building Trades
Service Occupations
Transportation
Business Services
Occupational Diagrams
Looking Back

I like the way the Lifepacs are set up so that your student can stay on track, by knowing what they need to complete. Doing a Lifepac unit every 2-3 weeks they will finish all ten Lifepacs by the end of the school year.

The only negative I see for this Alpha Omega home school program is there is no teachers book like other Lifepac kits. I assume, because by the time the kids are in high school, they figure they should be independent learners by then.

Over all, happy we used it and will use it again for remaining two sons to prepare them!

Lifepac curriculum kits are discounted in April (20%) and in May (15%) on the Alpha Omega website.

Jeanne, thanks for the AOP home school review and sharing how the Consumer Math Lifepacs have worked with your family. I visited the AOP website and found the Teacher's Guide to go along with this course. You can purchase the course with or without the teacher's guide. Find it here: LIFEPAC® Consumer Math Teacher's Guide
Have a wonderful homeschool year! Blessings, Heather :)
