What are the Advantages of Homeschooling?

More family time, a better education and increased test scores are definitely advantages of homeschooling.
I personally love being able to customize my children's education according to their unique personality and giftedness.

Flexibility and being able to include God in our education is also extremely important to my family.

As the homeschool movement grows, the reasons why families choose home-based education will continue to increase.

Other advantages include allowing your children increased time to pursue their interests or the opportunity to school on your own schedule, at your child's pace.

Spending a quantity of quality time with your kids is also a great advantage of homeschooling for families choosing home-based education.

Homeschooling is also extremely affordable. Home schooling costs can be kept to a minimum, especially for families on a tight budget. You have complete control over home school material purchases - how much you spend and what you spend your money on.

Customizing your child's education for their unique gifts, talents and learning style, allows you a unique opportunity to offer your child the best education possible.

You can homeschool your child!
All types of families, with different schedules, beliefs and backgrounds choose to school their children at home.

If you think home schooling costs too much, think again!

You have complete control over the amount of money you spend on home school material, curriculum and supplies - another benefit of homeschooling.

If you need to watch your budget, inexpensive homeschooling resources are readily available.

Studies show that homeschool children score better on tests and get better grades. They also watch less TV and are less peer dependent. Homeschooling vs public schooling offers many advantages depending on your child, family and goals.

You will find an (almost) endless list of homeschooling advantages - depending on your unique situation, your child, values and reasons for homeschooling.

However, difficulties may come when asked to choose your favorite! :)

More advantages of homeschooling...

"I homeschool my two children ages 9 and 7. I also intend on homeschooling my 2 year old. We don't want our children's lives to be worldly! We want their values to be faith based.

Also, the way that children are treated now by teachers is unacceptable. Both my son and daughter have been yelled at by their teachers in ways I wouldn't even yell at them. I feel the children are treated like a number and not an individual.

I want my children to know that whatever they want out of life is always within their reach!

My husband and I both want our children to depend on the Lord and to call on him. Although, there are many times when I feel homeschooling is not for me, I do this for my children and not for me. My children are very smart and I always let them know that whatever their heart desires is within reach." Melissa, home educator from Oklahoma
