Abeka Reviews

Can't decide if Abeka is right for you? Abeka reviews, written by parents who actually use this homeschool program day-in and day-out with their own child/ren, may help you decide if this program is a good fit for your family or child.

User reviews give you insight into how Abeka works with other families; you'll also find out what to expect should you decide to use this program with your own family.

No one likes surprises - at least when it comes to money or your child's education.

Have you ever purchased something only to find it wasn't exactly as you thought or envisioned? Looking through materials, reading reviews and testimonials, and listening to another's experience allows you to make an informed purchasing decision.

No homeschool product or program is perfect, but it is nice to know some of the downfalls before you shell out your hard-earned cash. Many reviews on my website offer useful tips to help you save time, money; you'll also find ideas to help make up for any limitations a certain curriculum may have.

Negative vs Postive Abeka Reviews

You will find both positive and negative Abeka reviews because both are helpful in giving you a well-rounded view of the curriculum. All families are different; our children learn differently, so what works for one family, may not for another. Learning about other homeschool families' experiences also lets us know we are not alone, especially if you are struggling with a particular course or program.

Although negative reviews may taint your view or damper your purchasing spirits, it's good to know what others find frustrating or don't like about Abeka. Remember to be objective about a negative testimonial or experience, especially if the ratio of positive reviews far outweighs the negative ones.

Overview of Abeka

If you're not familiar with Abeka... it is Christian curriculum, that uses the more traditional textbook/workbook method of teaching. If you are non-religious, or don't like textbooks, etc., Abeka may not be a good fit for you as lessons do refer to biblical teachings or the bible. The curriculum is teacher-led, meaning you (the parent) will need to go over daily lessons before your child completes his/her work.

Most parents say that Abeka is more advanced compared to other homeschool programs, which many appreciate. From my experience, it moves along quickly in subjects like math where new concepts are introduced every week or two.

Abeka Reviews and Testimonials

The following testimonials were submitted by parents who use or have used Abeka with their children. Although their review submissions were too short to be a stand-alone page on HomeschoolSavings.com, their comments are helpful, so I'm including them here:

I have the reading books and love, love their stories. I have 1st-6th grade. I love that they have nature, life stories and refer to God. I will reuse mine for each child. Submitted May 1, 2013, by Jamie H., Home Educator in Corbin, KY.

You can purchase Abeka Bible as a complete curriculum or each series can be purchased separately. There is no book work, only a few lesson review questions (about 3) at the end of the lesson. They even wrote the answers right next to the question for you. It is so easy. Submitted on August 19, 2013 by Tamara J., Home Educator in Baltimore, MD.

I recommend 8th Grade Abeka for parents who want to teach, and have a thorough curriculum. Abeka Language is top-notch with vocabulary, literature, and grammar. If the lesson plans are purchased with the subject, it is step by step. Submitted on February 10, 2013, by Lynn, from Jacksonville, NC.

I taught the Abeka 2 year old curriculum for a few years and LOVED IT! The children were entertained and learned everything they needed to know to prepare them for the 3's class. The curriculum covers everything from Bible learning to phonics/alphabet and numbers/counting! Submitted on August 1, 2013, by Amy, from Minnesota.

I have really enjoyed the K5 math and reading books. My daughter has learned so much in just a few short months! It was really well thought out and fun to do. I would reccomend A Beka to home-schoolers who are looking for a really good curriculum. Submitted on December 18, 2010, by Amanda, from Windsor, Ontario.

We use everything Abeka. At first I was not sure if I cared for it, but after the first year of using it, I have come to love it. I think it teaches excellent morals along with my children's education. Submitted on August 19, 2011 by Sue W. from Akron, OH.

I have been doing Abeka for a week and so far I'm loving it. My son has learned very well with this curriculum. It was a little expensive for all the books but thankfully we have a used homeschooling book store so that saved me a lot. Submitted on August 24, 2013, by Latasha C., from Pensacola, FL.

I love the Abeka History course because it goes in-depth and makes children think out side of the box. It gives them a chance do critical thinking instead of them just writing the answers! Submitted by October 28,2014, by Kristen, from Kansas.
